Overview
Seoul Photography Festival 2012
Photography amateurs, enthusiasts, as well as professionals have been invited to participate and submit their original photos to the annual festival that will be displayed throughout Seoul from November 21 to December 30.
This year''s festival will tie together photos and their stories revolving around the theme, "A Thousand Villages, A Thousand Memories." They will then be exhibited at designated venues throughout the city.
The festival will feature two main exhibits that will be a result of citizen collaboration and participation. The first exhibit, "A City Full of Memories: Livelihoods and the Archeology of Memory," will assemble and display commemorative photos from residents of Seoul''s 25 districts.
The second exhibit entitled, "There and Then: Memories, Reconstructed," will gather photos from significant years in Korean history submitted by participants and attempt to reconstruct those years with photos that official record-keepers may have missed.
(Editor''s note - This should be an extraordinary exhibit that will surely be remembered for a long time, and a rare chance to see and revisit Seoul from the perspective of those who have lived and witnessed Korea''s transformations over the years. This author definitely intends to attend.)
